Pre-May Hockey Festival Launched with Mini Tournament

The highly anticipated Pre-May Hockey Festival was officially launched at Academic City on March 1, 2025, with a mini tournament that kicked off the festivities. The event, organized by MR KOJO LUMOUR AMEYE, aims to promote hockey among schools and provide a platform for young hockey players not to just showcase their skills but to compete and unite hockey lovers and players.

A total of five (5) schools participated in the launch, including UNIVERSITY of GHANA (UG), GHANA INSTITUTE of MANAGEMENT and PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (GIMPA), PRESBYTERIAN BOYS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, AKOSOMBO INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL and ASSOCIATION INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL(AIS).
The participating schools showcased their teams and demonstrated their skills in the mini tournament organized that day.

During the launch, MR KOJO LUMOUR AMEYE highlighted key aspects of the festival, including the, main aim of the Pre-May Hockey Festival, He made a statement that “this event wasn’t just launched to come and make happy it all came about to showcase talent and to make hockey a common and well known sport like football”. MR LUMOUR expressed excitement about the event and emphasized its importance in developing hockey talent among young hockey players.

The Pre-May Hockey Festival is made possible through the support of Top Choco and Verna Mineral water, who have generously contributed to the event. Their backing underscores the growing interest in hockey and the potential for young athletes to excel in the sport.

The festival took place from the 10:00am to 3:00pm, with matches scheduled throughout the duration. Fans and supporters attended this great event and cheered on their favorite teams.
